Fiesty and Fearless at 78 years young – scathing insights coming soon! Plus Video

2011-01-01 00.00.00-170.jpg

My mum’s about to be removed from TripAdvisor (two formal warnings) for leaving such scathing reviews. She’s ended each lot of feedback with a call to action telling people ‘not to go there’. So far there’s about six venues she’s rubbished without shame. She’s fearless … Just thought I’d post her picture to warn you in advance to make sure your cutlery is polished. Am going to start putting them on my blog for 2017. She also wants to join Twitter, I’ve strongly advised her not to, for the benefit of others.

‘Shed Nest’ inspired by the ghost of Roald Dahl

I’ve spent much of my life  ‘alone’ by choice. I can be hugely sociable. I love to ‘above all else’ laugh … which would be my primary reason for seeking company.

But these days I am ‘constantly’ surrounded by people and am starting to feel ‘lost’ due to not having the ‘me’ time I was used to …

So I am taking a few hours to build a nest type environment in a shed … It’s a long story. Yes, I am going incognito and wish to hide so I can write my book and some reviews I have for stuff I like. Sometimes people say ‘think big’ … but what is the point for a person who likes being small.

Did you know one of my icon’s ‘Roald Dahl‘ created a whole world from a shed? So today I think I shall talk with his ghost!

Incidentally, please note – Roald has used a horizontal tray/plank running parallel with the arms of his chair. This is a great ‘quick fix’ to create an ideal desk. #DoingItNow

The Linestrider #Tarot – #Review by Tiffany Belle Harper

Earlier this week I treated myself to The Linestrider Tarot via Amazon. As a tarot lover I enjoy changing my deck periodically as ‘I find’ it helps to rejuvenate tired patterns.

Something about the illustrations compelled me to choose this pack of cards. I’m not disappointed. They’re just stunning. So feminine … delicate yet precise, with intuitive deliverance. Combing nature and our animal kingdom with astrology/numerology. Each card has a selection of plants and herbs that relate – making these great for paganistic and Wicca ways too.

I love the minimalist layout i.e, white background – the reverse being a power blue die splash effect. The cards are smaller than many modern day packs. I like this concept. For me this makes readings more seamless – less clumsy. Many decks being thick and rigid.

The cards are great quality. Each full of symbols, connectives, being abstract yet poignant.

With tarot, we’re drawn to packs that work best with our consciousness. I believe I shall enjoy the new bond with divination the Linestrider Tarot offer.

The pack comes with an absolutely intriguing book. ‘The Linestrider’s Journey.’ So very well presented – offering an easy to navigate description of each card, symbols and base point meaning/s. Also giving examples/variations of how the interpretation could differ set amongst or nesting with other cards in the deck.

Traditional standard of 22 major and 56 minor – so reading methods tarot enthusiasts may possess need not change. If anything … Linestrider are capable of increasing perception. Where we can dip in and out of many whimsical yet conceptual realms to enhance our reading experience. As though there’s new opportunity of the unknown tapping unexplored corners and twists in our dimensional advancement.

Tarot is a way to connect the many myriads of messages available to us as a means of connectives using the elements in every aspect (and beyond…) A deck should always be cleansed, used wisely and without bias, ego or judgement. I have found in the past some illustrations to be too controlling in the suggestive, yet this deck leaves open a gate of insight in a subtle way, thus expanding the opportunity to delve into new areas of the mystic subconscious.

I suppose I’d describe the artwork as a sort of ‘elven’ purity meets ‘Nouveau.’

Well done to Siolo Thompson on your new project. Clearly years of work, love and meditation have gone to this wonderful, fresh new journey. I just had to leave some feedback, as I’m delighted with my new bond. (Pictures used are the samples taken from the homepage of the Linestrider Tarot website.)

Aladdin at The Birmingham Hippodrome #Theatre UK by Tiffany Belle Harper #review

I’ve been to many Theatres over the years. Ask me what to see and I mostly won’t remember. Recently The Nutcracker – London at The Coliseum with The English National Ballet. I was hugely disappointed. The building was scruffy, too hot to bear. The heat rose upwards like a Turkish Sauna. Heaven knows what it would be like during the warmer months? The production dull and thoughtless. No comparison to The Birmingham Royal Ballet productions.

Photo below of The Coliseum – London. Sadly it does not capture the bits of cello-tape on the stage floor. There was no apparent security (despite recent terror attacks in Paris) and it took us almost half an hour to leave the building, following the performance, due to a mass of people trying to get down the stairs at once. I hated the entire experience from beginning to end.

Here’s what the press said about The Nutcracker :-

★★★★★
“Dazzling”
The Daily Telegraph

“Christmas-card perfect”
The Guardian

“This is now a contender as one of the best Nutcrackers around”
The Daily Express

Not sure whether they were watching the same performance as me …? Yup, more mainstream bullshit.

Then today I revisited The Hippodrome with my Nieces, Abbie and Gracie, where we watched Aladdin. It’s my favourite theatre to date. Nothing fancy yet it’s spacious and has good facilities – most importantly I’ve never seen a bad show. And of course, Birmingham ‘was’ my home town – I’ve many happy memories at The Hippodrome going right back to childhood. So perhaps I am a little biased … (ps look at my fringe, I cut it with nail scissors on the train.)

Well … eat your heart out ‘Ugly Sisters’ this show flawed you. Julian Clary was so tongue in cheek – I nearly fell from my seat.

He was ‘Ringo’ and his ring got a mention throughout each scene. Some tutted, but I loved the nerve. The show was packed with filthy camp innuendo.

(Plenty of ad-lib from Julian that had the rest of the cast sniggering between lines.) Not to mention 3D magic and crafty extras together with a superb cast to include Marty Pellow as the bad guy.

No expense spared with the costumes. The stage alive with colour. We thoroughly enjoyed it! (By the way the girls chose their own outfits, it’s good to clash I tell them.)
